ADM-Aeolus CAL/VAL Rehearsal Workshop
MeteoFrance, Toulouse, France
28-30 March 2017
ESA is currently implementing the Doppler Wind Lidar mission 'ADM-Aeolus' as part of its Living Planet Programme. The mission is a demonstrator for future operational missions, providing vertical profiles of the tropospheric and lower stratospheric wind field for the improvement of numerical weather prediction and atmospheric research. Through ADM-Aeolus, the tropospheric and lower stratospheric circulation will be better determined. The largest improvement is expected in the tropics, over the oceans and in polar areas, where the atmosphere is currently not well sampled on small scales. In addition, ADM-Aeolus will provide valuable profile information of aerosol and cloud layer optical properties. Further information about the mission is available HERE.
During this workshop, co-organised by ESA and MeteoFrance and supported by CNES, the organization and readiness of the ADM-Aeolus CAL/VAL activities and teams will be detailed and exercised. These activities will be instrumental to the mission calibration and validation in-flight, and are launched to ensure and demonstrate that ADM-Aeolus will meet its mission requirements.
